Our backgrounds may be different, but we are united by a common desire to make aviation safe for everyone. Our previous careers range from aviators to engineers, policy advisers to corporate professionals. All of us working together to make a new kind of regulator.
Many of us are on our second career so we’re not wet around the ears. Having said that, we also boast some of the sharpest young minds around.
The projects we work on affect all New Zealanders, both directly and indirectly. Some projects are in real time and some are long-term and wide-ranging. We shortlist applications based on the competencies in the position description, so when you apply, consider the competencies and experience identified, and make sure you highlight your skills and experience in your application.
Include referees who can be contacted by telephone or email. Written references are unnecessary.
You should include the following items in your CV. This will enable us to accurately assess your suitability for the position:
- Your name, address, and contact telephone numbers
- The name of the position you are applying for, eg, Safety Investigator
- Relevant experience
A summary of your relevant experience that proves you have the skills to do the job that you are applying for. Before you write this section, read the position description thoroughly. The CAA uses specific key competencies as well as skills, experience and qualifications as a basis for shortlisting. So you should identify the key competencies/attributes you will need for the position, eg, customer service experience, supervisory skills, and use them as headings for your relevant experience section. You should also be prepared to speak about these if you are invited to an interview.
- Employment history
List your employment history, starting with your most recent employment. State the name of the position, the name of the employer and a brief description of your role and responsibilities.
List your qualifications and any educational programmes you are currently involved in. Do not include copies of qualifications and certificates. Please include the date you received your qualification and the educational institution you attended.
Do not include copies of references. These will be asked for if you are shortlisted for the position. List the names of three referees who are available and able to make comment on your ability to do the job. List their names, addresses and phone numbers. We will never contact referees without your prior consent.
