Applicability:

Users of Garmin GTN Xi products with main software version 20.10 installed with a GTX 33ES, 330ES, 335(D), 335(D)R, 345(D), or 345(D)R with transponder controls.

Purpose:

This CAN is issued to advise users of the above-mentioned Garmin GTN Xi products that these units are sending erroneous ADS-B OUT data. This issue is described in Garmin Service Advisory 20140 revision B, dated 12 January 2021.

Background:

This CAN is prompted by CAA awareness of a recent incident regarding erroneous ADS-B data sent from an aircraft in operation in New Zealand. If the ADS-B data is erroneous, then the system is not ADS-B compliant.

Recommendation:

For GTX 33ES, 330ES, 335(D) and 335(D)R installations contact your avionics maintenance provider to revert to GTN Xi main software version 20.01, or install corrected software version 20.11.

For GTX 345(D) and GTX 345(D)R installations contact your avionics maintenance provider to revert to GTN Xi main software version 20.01, or introduce a possible configuration change, or install corrected software version 20.11.
