2020 East Coast - Gisborne and Hawke's Bay - deferred until 2021, or later

The subsequent consultation period for the Hawkes Bay/Gisborne Airspace review has again closed. As a result of the significant impact of the COVID-19 pandemic across the New Zealand aviation environment, Airways NZ and CAA NZ regret to advise that further implementation of PBN instrument flight procedures and associated airspace changes will now be delayed until 2021, at the earliest.

A summary of the submissions received from all previous consultation periods, in 2017, 2019 and 2020, will be published in conjunction with the updated airspace review once this can proceed again. If required, a further consultation period and meeting will be held at a later date, as the PBN implementation develops. Also at that time, any further airspace amendments relating to the Hawke's Bay and Gisborne review will be considered and may be petitioned to the Director.
