Mark is an experienced board chair & director with a broad governance experience, including in the transport, banking, automotive, logistics and education sectors. He currently holds chair roles on TSB Bank, Armstrong's, MTF Finance, Riverton Farms and Inland Revenue’s Risk and Assurance Committee. He is also a Council member of the Auckland University of Technology. Mark is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors, a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia-New Zealand and a Justice of the Peace of New Zealand.
Darin joined the Authority Board in August 2024. He brings a background in aviation, transport, and tourism sectors, having held chief executive and senior executive roles across airport, air navigation, aviation security and airline organisations throughout New Zealand and the Pacific region. His current governance roles include directorships of Ashburton Contracting Ltd, Hawke’s Bay Airport Ltd, Auckland One Rail Ltd, Airways NZ Ltd and in the not-for-profit space with Youth Hostel Association (YHA) of New Zealand and the Canterbury Cricket Association. Recently, Darin led the Pacific Aviation Investment Program (PAIP) on behalf of the World Bank Group across six countries in the Pacific region, and the reform and restructure of the Pacific Aviation Safety Office. The programme delivered over US$350 million of infrastructure renewal, technical assistance, regulatory oversight, policy development and capacity building.
Charles Spillane was appointed as a member of the Civil Aviation Authority board in December 2019. He has been the Chief Executive at Dentons Kensington Swan since 2016 - one of New Zealand’s leading national commercial law firms.
For 13 years he was the General Manager Corporate Affairs and General Counsel at Auckland International Airport Limited. Charles began his law career after graduating from the University of Auckland in 1996 in arts and law.
Jill is a professional director and is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors. She was a shareholder and director of Vincent Aviation Limited for many years, gaining in-depth experience of growing and operating a successful aviation business. The company grew to be one of New Zealand’s largest, privately owned international airlines, maintaining bases in both New Zealand and Australia and was also one of a handful of operators to be granted ANZA certification. Jill is currently a director of Air Ops NZ Ltd and a member of Aviation New Zealand, the aviation industry association.
Jill currently serves on the boards of WellingtonNZ (Wellington Regional Economic Development Agency Ltd), Chatham Rock Phosphate Ltd (NZX and TSX listed) and USX-listed Aorere Resources Ltd. Jill is a council member of Ringa Hora Services WDC (Workforce Development Council). She is the chair of the Audit and Risk subcommittees of all four entities.
Louise joined the Authority Board in August 2024. She is currently Programme Director Operations Transformation for KiwiRail and a Board Trustee for Parent Aid North West. Prior to joining KiwiRail in 2021, Louise held roles at Heathrow Airport and Air New Zealand and worked as a Chartered Management Accountant and Corporate Treasurer. She brings an international outlook to the Board, and over 20-years’ worth of strategy development and programme management experience, having led large and complex commercial initiatives across aviation, airport infrastructure and rail.
Simon joined the Authority Board in August 2024. He is the current Chief Executive of Port Taranaki, with prior managerial and governance experience in the aviation sector. Simon is also a former director of Hamilton Airport, Sounds Air and Airwork; and has eight years of managerial experience with Air New Zealand. He was also a former board member of Public Trust.
Terry joined the Authority Board in August 2024. He is an experienced board director, and executive in the general aviation sector. He has over 20 years as a Chief Executive of a general aviation firm and, as a result has held several CAA certifications. Mr Murdoch is currently the General Manager of Christchurch Helicopters and Chair of Orillion. He is also former board member of Airways.
