This Continuing Airworthiness Notice (CAN) is issued to bring attention to Dart Aerospace USA Inc. Service Bulletin SB19-4, dated 19 July 2018 applicable to Bell 206/407 series helicopters and Agusta A109/A119 series helicopters embodied with Dart Aerospa

Applicability:

Bell 206/407 series helicopters and Agusta A109/A119 series helicopters embodied with Dart Aerospace USA Inc. Tail Rotor Pedal Lockout Kit STC SR02258SE (FAA), or STC SH14-22 (Transport Canada).

Purpose:

This Continuing Airworthiness Notice (CAN) is issued to bring attention to Dart Aerospace USA Inc. Service Bulletin SB19-4, dated 19 July 2018 applicable to Bell 206/407 series helicopters and Agusta A109/A119 series helicopters embodied with Dart Aerospace USA Inc. Tail Rotor Pedal Lockout Kit STC SR02258SE (FAA) or STC SH14-22 (Transport Canada).

This SB requires a one-time inspection per Section 5.1.2 or 5.1.4 of ICA-D119-827, or Section 5.1.2 of ICA-D407-827 to verify correct engagement of the Quick Release Pin and Tail Rotor Pedal Linkage when locking out the Pedal Assembly.

Background:

This CAN is prompted by Dart Aerospace becoming aware that the D4705-1 Quick Release Pins in the D119-827-011 and D109-827-013 Tail Rotor Pedal Lockout Kits may not be installed in the correct position in the D4703-041/-045 Lockout Pin Assemblies, resulting in insufficient engagement of the D4705-1 Quick Release Pin and Tail Rotor Pedal Linkage when locking out the Pedal Assembly.

Operators with D119-827-011 and D109-827-013 Tail Rotor Pedal Lockout Kits embodied should perform a one-time inspection per Section 5.1.2 or 5.1.4 of ICA-D119-827, or Section 5.1.2 of ICA-D407-827 to verify correct engagement in the lockout position.

If the Tail Rotor Pedal Linkage does not engage fully to the locked condition, a replacement D4703-041/-045 Lockout Pin Assembly will be required.

Replacement assemblies may be acquired from Dart.  Replace D4703-041/-045 Lockout Pin Assembly per Section 67.7 of ICA-D119-827 or Section 67.4 of ICA-D407-827.

Recommendation:

The CAA strongly recommends compliance with Dart Aerospace USA Inc. Service Bulletin SB19-4, dated 19 July 2018 for Bell 206/407 series helicopters and Agusta A109/A119 series helicopters embodied with Dart Aerospace USA Inc. Tail Rotor Pedal Lockout Kit STC SR02258SE (FAA) and STC SH14-22 (Transport Canada).

Once the inspection and corrective action (if required) has been completed, update the Aircraft Log Book to indicate compliance with SB19-4.
