Cessna 150, 152, 170, 172, 175, 180, 182, 185, 205 and 210 aircraft fitted with McFarlane Aviation Incorporated Aileron Hinge Assembly P/N MC0523816-1
This Continuing Airworthiness Notice (CAN) is issued to bring attention to McFarlane Aviation Service Bulletin SB-10, dated 7 February 2020.
The SB is applicable to Cessna 150, 152, 170, 172, 175, 180, 182, 185, 205 and 210 aircraft fitted with a McFarlane Aileron Hinge Assembly P/N MC0523816-1.
Affected parts were released by McFarlane between 26 February 2019 and 2 January 2020.
The SB requires a one-time inspection of affected aileron hinge assemblies for internal/external cracks and delamination.
This CAN is prompted by McFarlane Aviation becoming aware of material defects found in some of the extruded material used in Aileron Hinge Assembly P/N MC0523816-1 released by McFarlane between 26 February 2019 and 2 January 2020.
These aileron hinges (FAA PMA parts) are used on Cessna 150, 152, 170, 172, 175, 180, 182, 185, 205 and 210 aircraft.
The CAA strongly recommends compliance with McFarlane Aviation Service Bulletin SB-10, dated 7 February 2020.
Once the inspection and corrective action (as required) per the instructions in SB-10 have been completed, then update the Aircraft Log Book to indicate compliance with the SB.
