A Part 66 IA certificate is an additional privilege, over and above holding a Part 66 AME licence.
It allows an engineer to perform and certify the following two maintenance functions:

Current IA – privileges not being used but certificate has a valid expiry date. | Does not meet the recent experience requirements of CAR Part 66.207(1)(i), (ii) and (iii). | Successfully complete a refresher course comprising at least 8 hours instruction that is acceptable to the Director - Refer to CAR Part 66.207(1)(iv). |
Current AMEL and IA – but privileges not being used but has a valid expiry date. | Does not meet the recent experience requirements of CAR Part 66.207(2). | Ensure that you regain the 6 in 24 months experience requirements of CAR Part 66.207(2), then complete an IA refresher course - Refer to CAR Part 66.207(1)(iv). |
Expiring or expired IA | Meets the recent experience requirements of CAR 66.207(1)(i), (ii) and (iii) and Part 66.207(2). | Apply to renew your Certificate – refer to CAR Part 66.11(c) for duration of certificate. |
Does not or has not meet the recent experience requirements of CAR 66.207(1)(i), (ii) and (iii) and Part 66.207(2). |
