Purpose
This Advisory Circular (AC) describes an acceptable means of compliance with the special category airworthiness certification requirements under Civil Aviation Rule Part 21 Subpart H.

Change notice
Revision 3 makes the following changes to this AC.
- Introduces the additional subcategories of special category to align with the updated requirements of Part 21.
- Deletes reference to special flight permits which are now covered in AC21-9.
- Re-numbers headings and subheadings as part of a systematic update to standardise the formatting of all ACs. The renumbering is intended to clarify the content of the AC.
