This Advisory Circular (AC) describes an acceptable means of compliance with requirements for flight time experience and on the examination syllabus content for meeting the Civil Aviation Rule (CAR) requirements for the issue of an Instrument Rating (IR).
This AC relates specifically to Civil Aviation Rule Part 61, Subpart Q Instrument Ratings.
Revision 17 amends the syllabus for Subject 52 IR Air Law (Aeroplane and Helicopter). The main changes are updating the abbreviations and definitions sections to align with the new rules.
We have also updated to align with redrafted rules under the Civil Aviation Act 2023 (CA Act 2023), made stylistic changes to align with current AC format, corrected minor errors and removed specific form numbers.
